Hooray for May! There's a lot going on in the Twin Cities this month. What events are happening in Minneapolis and St. Paul this May?
Mayday is May 1. The 34th Annual Heart of the Beast Mayday Parade is held on the first Sunday of May, this year it will be Sunday May 4.
Cinco De Mayo is a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. A street festival, car show, and food, music and entertainment will fill St. Paul's west side District Del Sol on May 2 and 3. It's the biggest Cinco De Mayo festival in the Midwest.
Mother's Day is May 11. Forget this at your peril!
May 11 is also Minnesota's 150th birthday. Sesquicentennial celebrations take place all this month.
Two major exhibitions close on May 4. The Minnesota History Center's The Enemy Within is a travelling exhibit from International Spy Museum in Washington DC examining America's history of being threatened from within her own borders. The exhibit includes fragments of the plane used to attack the World Trade Center in September 2001.
Also closing on May 4, Deadly Medicine is a collection of objects, documents and historical film footage from Nazi Germany's campaign to create the "master race". In places medically explicit, but would it be possible to document this horrific period of history otherwise? At the Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul.
May 26 is Memorial Day. Several events happen in the Twin Cities to for Memorial Day.
