Guide Review - Cafe Juliana: Organic Food and Coffee in St. Paul's West Side

Cafe Juliahna is a new arrival in St. Paul's West Side. Formerly the Old Man River Cafe, a Mark Twain-themed coffee shop, it's now under new management, and renamed after the owner's daughter.

Redecorated in warm colors, it has a cosy feel in the winter, and reflects the sun in the summer.

Cafe Juliahna offers free wi-fi, plenty of tables, couches, a play area for children, and water outside for dogs. There's art by local artists, and live music on weekend evenings.

There's a large menu of all-organic sandwiches, salads and baked goods. Smoothies and health drinks are also available.

Cafe Juliahna's coffee beans are organic, and roasted right in the cafe. The coffee roaster is solar powered. The previous owners were solar power pioneers and installed solar panels on the roof. This is probably the most environmentally friendly cup of joe in the Twin Cities: organic, shade grown, sustainably harvested and roasted. And it tastes great too.
