When the snow falls, Twin Cities residents still have lots of options for sports and activities. Here's ways to get or stay fit and active inside in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Gyms in the Twin Cities
As well as the national chains, Bally, Life Time, Gold's Gym, who all have several locations in the Twin Cities, and the ever-popular YMCA, there are several independent gyms in the Twin Cities.Inline Skating at the Metrodome
Over half a million skaters have taken to the concrete at the Hubert Humphrey Metrodome, sorry, RollerDome, in Downtown Minneapolis. When the Metrodome is not in use for other sporting events, inline skaters and rollerskaters can use it for fun and exercise from November until April. Entry fees and skate rental fees apply, but there are free rollerblading lessons available, free protective gear, and free coat and bag check.Vertical Endeavors
Vertical Endeavors is a huge indoor rock climbing facility in St. Paul. Visitors have to demonstrate proficiency in belaying (a basic training class is available if you need to learn) then are free to climb anywhere on Vertical Endeavor's many walls.Elsewhere in the Twin Cities, the REI store in Bloomington has a 55 foot climbing wall.
