Now you know all about the Snow Emergency parking regulations. There's more. In addition to Snow Emergency parking rules, there's Winter Parking Restrictions you'll need to know about.
Severe Winter Storm Warning when a severe storm is predicted, temporary parking regulations may be imposed before the snow starts falling. The regulations usually prohibit parking on the EVEN side of non-Snow Emergency routes for up to 48 hours. This is so plows can start clearing the most critical streets as soon as the snow starts to fall.
Winter Parking Restrictions After heavy snows, snowbanks and accumulating snow can make streets too narrow for cars and emergency vehicles. While snow is removed from Snow Emergency routes as a priority, for non-Snow Emergency routes, Winter Parking Restrictions may go into effect. Parking is prohibited on the EVEN side of non-Snow Emergency routes, and in a Snow Emergency, the parking rules change some. If Winter Parking Restrictions are in effect, and a Snow Emergency is declared, check the local media for exact instructions.
Temporary signs. Plowing, salting and sanding happen during snowfalls even if a Snow Emergency is not declared. Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted if necessary.
